Our collection of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) provides brief answers to many common questions about Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar and its activities. What are the regular opening hours?
The Center is open from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM everyday. Ticket counters usually close at 5:30 PM for General Entry.
For the Light and Sound Show the ticket counter closes at 6:30PM everyday.

Is the center open on public holidays?
We are open 363 days a year. We only close for major national holidays like Holi and Diwali.
How much time should I set aside for a full tour?
To comfortably explore the galleries, science park, and attend all the shows (like a 3D movie, Knowledge on Sphere {KoS} and Science Show), we recommend 2 to 3 hours.
Are there any scheduled shows or demonstrations?
Yes, we have timed shows for the 3D Documentary, and live science demonstrations throughout the day. Special shows are scheduled as per requirement.
Is the museum suitable for young children?
Absolutely! We have a dedicated 'Children’s Gallery' and all the interactive exhibits designed to make complex concepts like gravity, light, and motion fun for all ages.
Is the mathematics gallery "boring" or too difficult?
Not at all! Our math exhibits focus on puzzles, shapes, and patterns that you can touch and manipulate to see how math exists in nature, art and all around us.
Can we touch the exhibits?
Yes! It’s not like the other traditional museums, we encourage a "hands-on" approach. Most exhibits are designed to be operated by visitors and explore the science around them.
Is the center wheelchair accessible?
Yes, we provide ramps and elevators to ensure all galleries are accessible to visitors with mobility needs. Wheelchairs are also available at the entrance with the Security personnel on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is there a cafeteria or food available on-site?
We have a small cafeteria serving snacks and beverages. Outside food is generally not allowed inside the galleries.
Are photography and videography allowed?
Personal photography (without flash) is permitted in most galleries. For professional filming or commercial use, prior written permission is required.
Do you offer special discounts for school groups?
Yes, we offer subsidized entry for organized school groups. Please inform or eMail us on bbsrrsc@gmail.com or vigyankendra@gmail.com at least 24 hours in advance. Please refer to the Ticket Chart for reference.
Tickets are tiered: General Public, Students (with ID). Children below a certain height (usually 3 feet) enter for free. All the other shows are chargeable for children above the age of 3 years.
Organized school groups of 25+ students receive a significant discount. A formal letter from the School Principal is required at the ticket counter.

Are there guided tours available?
While the museum is self-guided, our "Education Assistants" are available on the floor to explain specific experiments. The availability of the Education Assistants depends on the crowd in the Center.
Can I pay online for the tickets?
Yes we accept both online and cash payments on the ticket counter.
What if I don’t understand the science behind an exhibit?
Every exhibit has a bilingual description (English and local language) explaining "How to play" and "What is science behind?" You can also ask our Education Assistants for help.
Are the mathematics galleries just for students?
No, the Mathematics Gallery is for all ages. Our Mathematics Gallery uses Puzzles, Giant Shapes, and Logic Games that makes the subject easy to understand and exciting from toddlers to retirees.
Can I bring my own food?
Food and Drinks are strictly prohibited inside the galleries to protect the interactive machinery. However we have a dedicated cafeteria and outdoor picnic areas. Please mind using the dustbin.
How do I find out about upcoming events or workshops?
The best way is to check the "What's New" or "Notice" section on the official website (rscbhubaneswar.org) and our Social Media Handles. Major events local newspapers and on our social media handles.
Do I need to register in advance for workshops?
Yes, most workshops have limited seats. You can usually find a downloadable registration form online or fill one out at the reception desk.
Are there age restrictions for events?
Most competitions are categorized by age groups (e.g.,Primary, High School for college and universities). Community events, like the medical camp, are usually open to all ages.
Is there a separate fee for events?
While the general entry fee covers the galleries, specific workshops may have a nominal additional charge to cover material costs.
Will I get a certificate for participating in a workshop or competition?
Yes, the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar typically provides Certificates and Goodies for all registered educational workshops and winners’ certificates for competitions.
What is the Innovation Hub timings?
The Innovation Hub is open everyday during the working hours. You can ask and get enrolled.
How can I become a member of the Innovation Hub?
Regional Science Center, Bhubaneswar often offers annual membership of Rs.1000/- annually that provides free entry and discounts on year-round workshops.
What is the Registration Fees for Innovation Hub?

Are there any 'Science Shows' happening in the next hour?
Unlike the fixed galleries, live demonstrations (like the "Super Cool Magic Show") happen at specific times and are often the highlight of the day.
Can I book a 'Science Seminar' for my school/group?
If you are with a large group, you can often request a dedicated session on a specific topic like mathematics or physics. Also we organize specialized talks and workshops regularly.
Are there any volunteer opportunities for college students?
During major events or workshops we require student volunteers to assist us with different things. You may ask the office or visit the center to register yourself for volunteering which will be awarded with a certificate.
